Speak Up and Speak Out Inc. was designed in 2017 but founded in 2022 to uplift the work I have done in 20+ years and increase access throughout Massachusetts and beyond to those in need, starting with my brother!
Speak Up and Speak Out Inc is a social services agency that supports and uplifts individuals, families, communities, organizations, and institutions. We identify root causes and support through empowering with asset mapping, creative space, healing spaces, collaboration through each community space.
We support you by assessing needs, challenges, and barriers then as a team we address them. Each person we work with will learn skills to pass on to someone else in need so we can change the narratives of our communities by empowering one another.
My name is Tahara Samuel. I am the Founder and President of SUSO Inc. In 2022, I founded this organization to support my brother Ralphie in identifying his trauma, navigating resources, and holding himself accountable for the man, father, and confidant he desired to be. Unfortunately, later in 2022, my brother was accidentally murdered in Boston while driving.
For over 20 years, I served in Human Services and Social Services at the micro and macro levels. As a single but supported mother of 3, I needed to change the narrative around generational trauma and outcomes. Despite several attempts to get a formal/traditional education, to no avail. I found that through walking in my purpose, I was able to accomplish what most do in a four-year degree by becoming educated by the very same professors and doctors who taught at colleges. I have obtained over 30 certifications to ensure that, despite the population in need, I have a basic knowledge of what and where to go to navigate supports and systems that were causing barriers for individuals and community successes.
Yes, I could have chosen an overly professional picture, but the truth is, this is me. When you see me in your community, when you meet me, and talk to me. You will see that you can identify with me and see my authenticity with full transparency.
